We celebrate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of our nation (India), on Oct 2 every year. This is a time to look back at his teachings, and values and refresh them in our minds, and lives.

7 teachings of Gandhi are worth remembering :

"the weak can't forgive, it is the attribute of the strong" - Gandhi

"an eye for an eye will make the whole world blind" - Gandhi

Gandhi believed in forgiveness. Because revenge is normal, forgiveness is divine.

"live as if you were to die tomorrow" - Gandhi

Life is temporary, and only when we realize the fleeting nature of this world, can we lead a wise life.

"the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others" - Gandhi

Service is a way of getting in harmony with yourself. Help others, and find inner peace.

"in a gentle way you can shake the world" - Gandhi

Gandhi believed in the power of love, and gentleness. Because love has the power to win hearts, and conquer the world.

"strength comes from an indomitable will power" - Gandhi

Gandhi was a living example of will power. He fought the might of the British Empire, and carried the aspirations of millions of Indians towards freedom.

"nobody can hurt me without my permission" - Gandhi

Gandhi was spiritual, he believed hurt is caused by expectations. And every expectation is in your control. So you can feel hurt only with your own permission.

"non-violence is the greatest force in the world" - Gandhi

Gandhi taught the world a new force, a new power - non-violence. The history of mankind has shown that men have used power and violence to achieve victory. Gandhi did so with non-violence. The world learnt a new lesson in human rights which could be achieved through peaceful means.

It's important to relive the wisdom of Gandhi. It's only through that the fragrance of his life can be kept alive.

Long Live The Mahatma !

Happy Gandhi Jayanti (Oct 2) !
