it’s common for people to praise you. Some people particularly like to praise everyone. They just like to make everyone feel good. They like to inject positivity in the other person through their praise.
When praise is given, it could be genuine. However, sometimes this praise becomes slightly put on. This is when the praise gets converted to flattery.
When receiving flattery, it is important to recognise it. Because this flattery if believed by ourselves as genuine may make us proud. We may start believing in all the good things said about us. This false belief may give us a false illusion about us. Humility may take a beating. Disregard flattery.
Flattery is like cologne water, to be smelt but not swallowed !
