The water was turbulent. It was churning, moving. We tried to see the lake bed beneath the water. But we could not. Because of the disturbance in the water. Where there is too much movement, suddenly you can't see.
Our minds are also in the same state. Sometimes they are disturbed, and troubled. At other times they are quiet, and peaceful. A troubled mind can neither hear the other person, nor understand. You need to be calm, and quiet to be able to hear. When the state of deep quietness is reached, the words spoken to you will not only have an external meaning. Then, you will be able to penetrate their shallowness, and understand the inner meaning, the inner depth. For that the mind needs to be quiet.
The quieter you become, the more you can hear.
