Shakespeare said, "the stroke of death is a lover's pinch."
Death is physically painful. That's our assumption. Hence, we call it a pinch. But this pinch is from our lover. Our lover is God. He pinches us and takes our soul from this place of test (the earth), to a place of rest. We can find rest only in our lover's arms. God takes us back to him with death.
